Here is a message she would like to share with all of us
I started writing when I was in school, probably when I was in Fifth Standard. I still remember going up to my English teacher to show her what I had written and she could not believe I actually had written that poem. That is when I knew I could write. As a person,I always needed to channel all the emotions I feel and Alhamdulillah I found a way to do that. For me, it was writing, for you it can be anything else. Some people dance it all out, some paint and some sing. I only write what I feel. I write about everything close to my heart, for example freedom for Kashmir. I am really grateful to my teachers from school like Mrs.Dhira Madan and Mrs.Surabhi Jamal who actually saw it in me and always encouraged me to take it forward. My parents have always been very supportive of me. And I am happy that I did not take it up as a profession because I have tried professional writing and I figured that I do not like to write about anything I do not feel. It just comes to my heart and I feel the need to pour it out on paper. Right now, I am writing a book and I am hoping Insha Allah it will come out well.
I am a final year Medical student and Alhamdulillah I do not regret my decision of taking up Medicine as a profession. Like many teenagers today, I was confused and I could not choose between wanting to become a doctor or a Journalist/Writer. Many people think that they have to give up their passion to secure a bright career. Youngsters first need to figure out if they want to take up their talent as a career or not and if they really want to practice it on an everyday basis. Because things are different once you decide to take your field of interest as a subject. It is not just about what you like and what you dislike. It is about having a defined career direction which will help you fulfill your dreams and provide for you and your family at the same time. So some serious self reflection is required before taking a decision as big as this. There is a difference between what you want and what you enjoy. So figuring out what you should do with your life requires you to know yourself better. Taking some time off to make your career decision is better than rushing into a career and crying all your life about it. Choosing your passion as your career itself or not is one’s personal choice but you should never give up on your talent. It is a blessing from Allah. And we should all embrace it.
